Course Introduction
The eyebrows help to protect the eyes from moisture and dust, and cushion the skin from physical injury. Bushy and unkempt eyebrows give an untidy appearance to the face but when correctly shaped, trimmed and tinted, the brows give balance to the facial features, enhance the eyes, and distract from other facial imperfections. Before beginning to shape a client’s eyebrows, you must talk to them and confirm the treatment. Discuss their previous treatments, their wants and needs, and especially their expectations of this treatment.
You should know the medications that your client is taking as these may have a bearing on the result of the treatment, especially if the client has acne. You must take into account the client’s personal characteristics, like their natural eyebrow shape and length, their hair line, whether the brow hair is distorted or curly and especially any peculiarities, such as bald patches, piercings or scarring in the brow.
These characteristics will help to determine the right brow shape for each client. What is in fashion may not suit the client or their type of hair, so make sure the client does not have unrealistic expectations.
There is no single perfect eyebrow shape; different shapes suit different people, so it is important you always remember that you can make or break the client’s face by the shape of the eyebrow!
