Claire Coleman started her first Beauty Salon – Beauty and Beyond – in 1993 in a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Over the next few years she studied Natural and Chinese Medicine, Clinical Acupuncture and Remedial Massage, and added these to her treatment menu.
By 2002 the business had outgrown its premises and a purpose built facility was needed. The Centre of Wellness was built and opened its doors to a full tenant list that included Beauty & Beyond, a Naturopathic Clinic, Hair Salon, Podiatrist, Chiropractor, Counsellors, Psychic, Meditation, Pilates, Yoga and Feldenkrais.
The Centre of Wellness believes in making education accessible to everyone. That’s why we decided to take our courses online, to make training and career opportunities available to everyone, regardless of location.
Since 2016 we have been involved with the Boston Children Centre (B.C.C) in Nairobi. The B.C.C project is located in Kenya in the Eastlands of Nairobi, Kayole at the heart of Matopeni. The organization aims to provide a well-rounded free education for all children in Matopeni and the neighbouring estates regardless of their religion, gender, social status, so as to give them all an opportunity to escape poverty, to have access to meaningful employment and to lead future fulfilling lives.
Centre of Wellness currently sponsors two children, Harriet & Benjamin. With the support of Boston Children Centre, Harriet is attending 8th grade, and Benjamin completed High School and has been accepted at Laikipia University to pursue a four-year degree course in Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistics.
To help more children receive access to education, every April we donate 10% of our course sales to the Boston Children Centre. Your course purchase will help share the gift of education with someone in need!

An esthetician focuses on skincare and rejuvenation. This includes skin analysis, facials, face and body waxing, body wraps, exfoliation, brow shaping, spray tanning, and massage for the head, neck, and shoulders. Some clients go to an esthetician for specific treatments, such as wrinkle prevention. Many estheticians offer not only physical treatments, but focus on providing a relaxing, soothing, and therapeutic experience for their clients.
While estheticians specialize in analyzing and beautifying the skin, cosmetologists cover a wider range of services. This may include manicure, pedicure, makeup, and hair care, as well as skincare techniques. If you’re looking for something creative and artistic, you might prefer cosmetology. Both professions require good people skills and professional expertise and knowledge. And both offer rewards in the form of helping your clients to look and feel their best.
The average income for an Australian-based esthetician with several years’ experience is $54,400/year. The average esthetician salaries in the USA range from $23,000 to $61,000/year, depending on location and expertise.
The average massage therapist salary in Australia is $73,125, as of 2022. Experienced masseurs can earn over $100,000/year.
The beauty industry is constantly evolving, so keeping up-to-date on the latest techniques and trends, and regular personal improvement, is essential. Following recommended health, hygiene, and safety guidelines is another vital element in serving your clients well. A beautician needs to have good hand-eye coordination and to take pride in their work and artistry.
One of the most important qualities you’ll need is excellent people skills in order to build a loyal client base. It’s important to project a friendly, trustworthy, and positive attitude, and exercise diplomacy and tact when making beauty recommendations.
Swedish massage is a classic massage technique and one of the most popular. It involves relaxing the whole body with long gliding strokes, lighter pressure, and some gentle kneading and chopping of muscles and connective tissue. Swedish massage not only feels good, but it also improves circulation, flexibility, and the level of oxygen in the blood.
In a hot stone massage, smooth heated stones are placed on specific pressure points on the body to release muscle tension and stiffness and increase circulation and metabolism. Heated stones have been used through the ages to treat discomfort and ailments. It’s a more invigorating massage than the classic Swedish massage.
An aromatherapy massage is gentle and calming, using a blend of essential oils tailored to the individual’s needs. This treatment provides all the regular massage benefits (easing stiff muscles, improving circulation and lymph drainage), combined with the scent of essential oils to relax the mind and emotions.
Reflexology is a type of massage where pressure is applied to specific pressure points on the feet, and sometimes hands and ears. Reflexology is a relaxing treatment, and many use it as a stress-reliever. It is believed that pressure points in the feet correspond to other body parts, and thus reflexology may provide healing to other parts of the body.
